We're not just designing structures – we're crafting spaces that actually give back to the planet. Every project's a chance to do better.
Here's the thing – sustainable design isn't some checkbox exercise for us. It's literally how we think about every single project from day one.
Over fifteen years working across Vancouver, we've learned that the best buildings are the ones that work WITH their environment, not against it. Less ego, more ecology. That's kinda become our unofficial motto around here.
Real Talk:
We've cut an average of 42% in operational energy across our completed projects compared to conventional builds. That's not marketing fluff – that's utility bills.
Here's what we've actually accomplished across our portfolio – numbers that matter.
Average water consumption decrease through smart fixtures and rainwater harvesting systems we've installed
Improvement over baseline code requirements – some projects hit net-zero, which still gets us excited
Construction waste kept out of landfills through careful planning and material reuse strategies
CO2 equivalent prevented annually across all completed projects
Solar generation capacity integrated into our designs
We don't chase certifications for the sake of it, but when a project aims high, we know how to deliver the credentials that prove it.
18 Projects ranging from Silver to Platinum
Including three Platinum certifications that honestly pushed us to learn new tricks. The commercial building on Robson? That one still makes us proud.
7 Certified Builds meeting rigorous standards
Vancouver's climate is actually perfect for this approach. We've got clients whose heating bills are basically pocket change now.
2 Projects pursuing full certification
This one's no joke – probably the toughest green building standard out there. We've got two in progress and they're teaching us a ton.
5 Registered Projects focusing on human health
Because sustainability isn't just about the planet – it's gotta work for the people inside too. Air quality, light, acoustics... all that stuff matters.
Every project's different, but here's the toolkit we're constantly pulling from. Not all of these make sense for every build, but we always explore what fits.
Orientation and glazing that actually works with BC's weather patterns
Walls and roofs that keep energy where it belongs
Reusing water that doesn't need to be pristine
Living systems that insulate and manage stormwater
Cutting transportation emissions while supporting regional suppliers
Automation that learns and adapts to actual usage
Solar, geothermal – whatever makes sense for the site
Old-school approach that still beats AC when done right
Where our materials come from and what they're doing for (or to) the environment.
We're pretty obsessive about material selection. Every spec gets vetted for embodied carbon, toxicity, durability, and where it came from. Sometimes the "greenest" option isn't what you'd expect – like when a really durable conventional material beats a renewable one that'll need replacing in half the time.
It's all about lifecycle thinking. We've gotten good at having those conversations with clients about upfront costs versus long-term value. Usually the math works out better than people think.
Whether you're aiming for certification or just want a building that won't cost a fortune to operate, let's talk about what's possible for your project.
We offer sustainability consulting as a standalone service too – so if you've already got an architect but want a deep dive on green strategies, we're here for that.
Fun fact: Our most energy-efficient residential project uses 91% less energy than a comparable conventional home. Yeah, we double-checked those numbers too.
